Choosing the Right Dog Beds

Your pets should also have a place of their own. Dogs can’t just be left in anyplace to lie around since they might become unruly and would become a nuisance. If the dog is given a bed, they could be easily disciplined while they have a good place to stay where they can be themselves and easily rest without any effort at all.

But a dog bed shouldn’t just be a cloth where he or she can lie and claim that place. A dog bed should ensure comfort for the dog so that your pet will immediately like the place and should stay there whenever your pet doesn’t want to go out.

Determining the Size

There is actually no particular make or type of bed for every type of dog. The determining factor in selecting the right type of bed for your dog is to have a dog bed that perfectly fits to their body. That is why you should know the length of your dog before you set out and shop for the right dog bed.

Sometimes to save costs, you might be tempted to purchase a large dog bed for your puppy since they will grow up to someone big anyway. Although that’s a good idea, it might not really be feasible for your dog. A small dog in a large bed could easily get restless and instead of using the bed for sleeping purposes, your dog might use it to relieve himself or herself since there are still parts in the bed that’s clean and could be comfortably used as a bed. But if you have something that fits your dog, urinating in their bed might not even cross their mind.

Don’t worry about the availability of variety. The booming industry of pet care has ensured stability of this business even with the slumping economy. In most pet shops, you should be able to find a good variety of dog beds that should be perfect for your dog.

There is a simple formula in selecting the right dog bed size. After you measured your dog, look for dog bed with a diameter that is no less than three inches bigger than your pet dog but never extend the extension to a foot. This should be more than enough for your dog to enjoy the night or even the day when your dog takes a nap.

Accessories

The personalization of your dog’s bed is actually based on the accessories. You can place some things for your dog to enjoy but never forget the fundamental – a good soft blanket. Your dog will not really need anything else except a soft blanket where your dog could comfortably rest. Most commercial dog beds already have a fabric that will serve as a blanket but you can greatly improve it by adding your preferred fabric. It might require you to work extra hard since you will have to clean the dog bed now and then. But that’s a small inconvenience compared to the inconvenience you will have to go through if your dog doesn’t have a bed.
